Important update regarding ETIAS.

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) , initially scheduled to come into effect in 2025, has had its launch postponed. The European Union has announced that ETIAS is not currently operational and will not begin in the first half of 2025. No action is required from travelers at this time. The EU will provide detailed information on the start of ETIAS several months before its launch.

What is ETIAS?

ETIAS will be an electronic authorization linked to the traveler's passport, valid for up to three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. With a valid ETIAS, it will be possible to enter participating European countries multiple times for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

Who will need ETIAS?

Citizens of more than 60 visa-exempt countries, including Brazil and the United States, will need to obtain ETIAS travel authorization to enter 30 European countries. This includes tourists and business travelers planning short-term stays.

How do I apply for ETIAS?

Once the system is operational, the application process will be online, via the official ETIAS website or the official mobile app. A valid travel document and a payment card will be required for the application fee, which is expected to be €7.

  • Austria
  • Belgium
