Important news for citizens of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries!
The Mission Structure for the Recovery of Pending Processes at AIMA (EMAIMA) has initiated measures aimed at modernizing and streamlining the process of renewing the CPLP Residence Permit.
What's new?
- Email Notifications:
Starting February 14th, holders of CPLP Residence Permits will receive an email notification containing all the instructions to update their data and proceed with the renewal process. - Credential Update:
After receiving the notification, citizens must access the services.aima.gov.pt platform and select the “Renew CPLP AR” option to revalidate their credentials. - Requesting the Single Billing Document (DUC):
With the updated account, it will be necessary to request the DUC for payment of the corresponding fees. This payment must be made within the following 10 business days to ensure the continuity of the process. - Scheduling for In-Person Appointment and Biometric Data Collection:
Upon account validation and payment confirmation, applicants will receive a scheduling proposal for in-person appointment and biometric data collection, ensuring a swift and organized transition to the new residency permit model. - New Scheduling Form:
On February 19th, a new form was made available for scheduling the granting of CPLP Residence Authorization, especially for citizens who have a visa without a specified date. To access it, simply visit the link contactenos.aima.gov.pt and correctly fill in your passport and visa details, also sending a copy of them as requested.
Why are these changes important?
These measures are part of AIMA's ongoing effort to regularize pending processes and improve services provided to CPLP citizens. With the modernization of the process, it is expected not only to streamline bureaucratic procedures but also to provide greater security and transparency in the issuance of residency documents.
